Inside Analysis Of Shout
From the image shown above (figure 4) this is what the typical format for the index of this page and if used to find the where an article is located in the magazine for the readers pleasure. Normally these are only on one page however due to this magazine being a very gossip base magazine there is a double page spread on where the articles are located and its content. On this content page there are still images that can be seen by the reader some with page numbers on to encourage the reader to look at these articles before they read any others, by having these images lets the reader see what is inside the article and if it will appeal to them in any way and also encourages the reader to look at maybe less popular articles by using images on the content page.
The layout of figure 4 is the typical layout and is used in all magazines in different ways, this magazine once again uses colours to allow the reader to be sure on the different titles they are reading and the key words by the colour of them. Once again by using this pink colour shows that the key audience is young females as this is stereotyped to be their favourite colour. The background is very basic and plain to ensure that the information is easy to read and the pictures are clear.
From the article above (figure 5) which would be classed one of the main double page spreads as these articles would be seen more 'juicy' and interesting for the target audience. This double page spread is all about young females and how they have been affected by different aspects of looks and their lives. This would appeal largely to the target audience (12-14 year olds) as the may be able to identify with them or they may be inspired by them as they are seen as 'older role models' to these younger readers. Its clear that the title is much large then the other text and is used in a very block colour and font to catch the readers attention. The first females story about being bullied has its own sub-heading once again using pink to identify the key words about this story. This take one page to itself whereas other girls take smaller columns in the next page as their story may not be as easy to identify for the target audience. The images on this double age spread are large and can clearly be seen by a reader. I would say that 1/3 of the page is covered by images and large highlighted and coloured text whereas the other 2/3 are mainly solid text that is cut into different columns to try and keep the reader interested and to show where one girls story ends and another ones begin. By the 'Real-Life' in the top right hand corner would once again link with the 'EXCLUSIVE' to shout and '100% OFFICAL' in the article about Union J (figure 3), these are small tag lines that are used to try and entice the audience into reading these articles as they are more 'down-to-earth' for them to identify with. Overall this double page spread has a very defined and clear layout with the links across the page yet separating the different storied by using simple dotted lines across each separated article. There is also a change in the background colour on the story on the second page left hand side to ensure that the reader can see a difference yet the colour is not as bold and blocked as the title it is more of a baby blue to blend into the white background.
