Deconstruction of Shout images

Deconstruction of front cover and double page spread images

Within the magazine there are many different images that are purposely taken and put in a selected order to ensure that each image is giving the read something different too look at to keep them interested and involved within the magazine.

From the magazine that I personally purchased the front cover was of four people instead of the one star like the other found, therefore leading to the deconstruction of an already studied front cover. However from this image it gives a very clear message that this Disney star is not sexualised in any way towards the younger audience as they see her as a role model.

Beginning with the stars face, it is clear she has make up on from her slightly pink eye shadow yet her make-up is very neutral and not obvious to the audience. Her lips are shiny with a very natural colour suggesting that she had a clear lip balm or Vaseline on to ass that extra detail to her lips. Her eyebrows are coloured in but around her natural shape of eyebrow without any added shape to enhance her natural eyebrow. There is a very small amount of blusher on her cheeks to give that small enhancement to the cheek bones without being noticeable to a younger audience. There is also eye-liner and mascara on the stars eyes to give that enhancement around the eyes and to make them stand out to the audience and possibly encourage them to start learning how to perform these certain make-up tips. Overall with Miley (the star on the front cover) looking directly at the camera and smiley shows the audience that she is a down to earth girl and can be seen as a role model to the younger audience. This is key when recreating this front cover as this is the idea of the Disney star becoming a role model for a younger target audience. Moving on to the stars hair, it is of a natural colour and is a long length which is once again the stereotype of a teenage role model to younger girls, her hair is curled but to a natural look without having ringlets - this is also adding to the natural look of the star giving the young audience the idea that you do not need to be 'fake' with lots of make-up and perfect hair to be seen as pretty.  There is no large necklace with the clothes therefore giving the idea that the young readers may not be at that level of wearing heavy jewellery with dresses, once again the image of the model is reflecting the age of the audience.

From the clothes that the star is wearing you can see that she is covered up- both by her dress and by how her hair is dropped down over her chest. The dress itself is also a pale pink colour which is matching with her eye-shadow to create a 'pale pink' look by keeping the same themes throughout her photo. The dress itself is a 'bodycon' dress but is not so tight that you can clearly see her figure - this is also an encouragement to young girls that you don't need t be a tiny size to be seen as beautiful. The dress is simple and could be purchased from anyone from the style of the dress, only a small amount of cleavage is showing at the top of the dress which some readers maybe be experiencing anyway, this is giving the young target audience a good role model to encourage them to grow in the correct female manner. To recreate this image I will be using a model with the same look to ensure that it encourage a positive affect on the younger readers.

From the double page spread you can see that there are a number of different images used throughout the spread. On the first page it is taken up by the title of the article and the main image of Joe Sugg and his fans looking directly at him and trying to hold/grab him therefore showing him off as being famous and that his fans want him and are loyal to him by using this image to gives the audience an insight onto how popular he is and gives the reader the impression that they should also want him and follow his vlogging like the fans in the image. The images of the second page they are from the vlogger's instagram of general 'selfies' and picture of Joe with his other friends either pulling funny faces or just looking casual on the bed (central picture in the right column). From these instagram images it shows that this vlogger is a general down to earth boy who posts videos for a laugh and has became famous from it. Encouraging the audience to keep an open mind about what they are doing online and what they are posting to encourage them to have fun and not be so serious from the images on the right from his instagram that he has uploaded himself. I will also be recreating this layout from the magazine as it keeps the audience interested and allows the readers to see more into his normal life and his life of being famous.
